Unfortunately, in wireless mobile devices, like palmtops and personal digital assistants, storage memory is limited or absent due to weight, size, and power constraints, thus limiting the application of virtual memory. The limitation of resources can be addressed in a distributed environment by offloading part of the computation at runtime when lack of memory is detected.
