MARS: Mobile Application Relaunching Speed-up through Flash-Aware Page Swapping
Abstract— MARS: Mobile Application Relaunching Speed-up through Flash-Aware Page Swapping. As mobile apps become more closely integrated into our everyday lives, mobile app < Final Year Projects 2016 > interactions ought to be rapid and responsive. Unfortunately, even the basic primitive of launching a mobile app is sorrowfully sluggish. Mass storage devices provide to desktop and laptop computers the support to implement a virtual memory that can be viewed as an unlimited resource to be used to extend the main memory whenever needed. Unfortunately, in wireless mobile devices, like palmtops and personal digital assistants, storage memory is limited or absent due to weight, size, and power constraints, thus limiting the application of virtual memory. The limitation of resources can be addressed in a distributed environment by offloading part of the computation at runtime when lack of memory is detected.
