Abstract—Abstract This document proposes the creation of a MATLAB script to find, track, and
analyze the movement of athletes on their given playing surface with the intent of providing more precise information to coaches and players. It includes six components: Background and Motivation; Research Goals and Objectives;Research Design and Methods;Staffing Plan;Timeline and Reference.As the son of a football coach, the pursuit of gaining an edge over a sports opponent was as present as the sports themselves. During my lifetime, I have seen film study move from reel film to VHS to DVD to MPEG. I can remember when the first football analysis software was released, and now no collegiate or professional program is without it. With incentive to win manifested in multi million dollar contracts and billions more in revenue, these tools have become vital to preparation and success.
