Improved Energy Storage Management and PV-Active Power Control Infrastructure and Strategies for Microgrids
Abstract— The ancillary services that could be provided by the distributed generators and the energy storage systems are expected to give great added value to the microgrid-based smartgrid topologies. These services must be integrated into the control system of the microgrids. The pseudo-state-of-charge concept is
introduced to improve energy storage management. Additionally, anon invasive-to-the-inverter PV-plant control strategy, based on the remote control of PV-strings actuators, is presented and applied on a microgrid-based smart grid topology. The operation of the microgrid with the improved control infrastructure and the iterative algorithm is compared, interms of reliability,to a micro-grid with a different control strategy and topology. The experimental results highlight the advantages of the developed strategy.Load levelization and demand-side management in general
are extensively used to provide services like voltage regulation and energy saving for islanded microgrids. Many researchers focus on controlling the active and reactive power of PV facilities inorder to supply ancillary services to the grid < final year projects >
